Inner Landscape #3-Elysium

-Elysium=Tα Hλύσια πεδία-winking at my Greek teacher-
Acrylic on (watercolor) paper, 8,5 by 11,5 inches.

Surely landscapes can depict my "cancer-adventures" just as well. In this one, the water is still enough to reflect the trees, while something seems to be brewing in that forest, friendly or evil...my journey takes me to its shore...

Some people call us "survivors," "heroes," "sheroes" even on Oprah...I just consider myself extraordinarily lucky and feel intensely grateful...
The Elysium is the place where in Greek Antiquity the heroes went to when they were slain: Hector, Hercules, Odysseus...After seeing Gladiator and Troy, that sounds adventurous, let me land there then...

I love the textures - so rich! Nice description of the work. "Elysium" just rolls off the tongue :)

Ria, Your blog is so inspiring. We all go through torments, some greater than others. I am in one now, but more than that 3 of my friends have cancers that cause them to struggle daily. All of their cancers are different, metastatic breast cancer, uterine cancer, and hodgkins. I forwarded your address to them and others.
As an artist and therapist, I so appreciate your work.
My prayers are with you,
Mary S
