La Mirada #5-Serendipity

I've been taking pictures of my new torso for "The Breast Portrait Project," a project by my friend Clarity Haynes. This one came out over-exposed and vague. But I guess in art it's all about shadows and light, so it's quite useable. My face wasn't all that important for the pic ;-) But as it turns out, I find the expression, coincidentally caught, to be grasping. I see something in it that's new-like my new body. I can't describe what it is that I see, but I'm calmly happy when I look at this pic. I'm sure I could use it in a painting, but I feel humbled by serendipity ;-)

Btw, Clarity is looking for models to continue the Breast Portrait Project, the pieces are amazing, if you're interested&in the Brooklyn NY area, contact her!

I think I see determination in your face. This would make an awesome painting.

Hello Deborah, thanks for dropping by here! I think you may just be right: that it's determination in my face. And finding determination in oneself is a good reason to feel calmly happy about, isn't it...I find it very moving. Thx.

It might serve well as a basis for a painting but I find it stands alone as a very powerful photograph. Sarah at Eclipse had a link at one time to photographer Nan Goldin who was not bothered by exposure/focus in striving to arrive at an "immediate" emotion or reaction.

Thx for that Bill!-I'll go look Nan Goldin up. I'm quite fond of the pic myself-as it is. Don't know that I will (paint from this).

Thank you for your art. You have captured, in images, what I have tried for over a year to elucidate in words.
